Sometime in the late 1970's, in the prime of his youth, Kinley Dorji woke up to the profound realisation that he was not going to be a rock star. Then fate stepped in and he was awarded a scholarship to study journalism. Editing and writing for Kuensel, Bhutan's national newspaper, since 1986 he found out that journalism was not just a profession but a serious responsibility. Today, despite a generous stock of premature gray hair and a dose of hypertension, he is happy to be a struggling writer.
