Gopilal Acharya


GOPILAL ACHARYA was born in Gelephu, Bhutan, and educated in Bhutan and Sweden. He is an award winning journalist and the author of 'Bhutanese Folk Tales (From the East and the South)' and 'Dancing to Death' (a book of poems). The manuscript of his debut novel, 'With a Stone in My Heart', was longlisted for the 2009 Man Asian Literary Prize. His poetry and fiction have appeared in Asia Literary Review and Himal Southasian. His notable non-fiction work includes 'Denmark-Bhutan: Developing a Partnership Through 35 Years'. As a journalist he has written for CNN, The Straits Times in Singapore, The Telegraph, Scroll.in and The Third Pole in India, South Asian Monitor, and Druk Journal, Kuensel, Bhutan Times, and The Journalist in Bhutan.
