Gaylong Summer Tashi- Song of Sorrow
Perfectly translated version of Gaylong Sumdar Tashi by one of the popular and Examplary figure of Bhutan Dasho Sonam Kinga. I have read this book long time ago. And I still read it and become emotionally drenched in the incidents occurred centuries ago. Being Bhutanese, this is a must read book.Happy ReadingThank you
In nutshell, the title of the book says everything. Another young and intellectual writer has put in much of her efforts to bring this out to all the book lovers. And I have no regrets of spending weekends sitting in the room and flipping over the pages of lomba... It portrays one of the popular cultures practiced in western Bhutan. And it's merely promotion of remote culture.I recommend all to Read this book la.Thank youHappy Reading
A Dzongkha Novel, indeed the retelling of incidents happened centuries ago was written by one of the young Dzongkha Lopoens from remote Bhutan. The Novel is vocabularily rich and understandable by every Bhutanese although it contains numerous names which is often tough to remember. I would rather say if Dzongkha, the national language of Bhutan is not promoted by Bhutanese then, who else will dare to help promote Dzongkha? Therefore, I would like to recommend every enthusiastic readers and book lovers to kindly purchase one and get taste of Bhutanese Writers. Let's unanimously support in promoting Bhutanese literature.Happy Reading laa...
Of Rainbows and Clouds- the Life of Yab Ugyen Dorji as told to his Daughter
BOOK REVIEWFirstly, I would like to announce that I am very much privileged to be prophesied to read this book, a book by a non-ordinary Author.Of many biographical books I have read so far, 'Of Rainbows and Clouds' is one that took my valuable amount of time and kept me engaged for the last one and a half weeks. And after reading it, I realized it's worth it. The book was written by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Azhi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck where it's entirely narrated by Her Majesty's Father Yab Ugyen Dorji...It mainly talks about the hardships Yab and His parents underwent since he was a little child then. It also reveals the truth behind how and who was involved in the assassination of the 5th and 6th Mind Incarnation of Zhabdrung in Talo goenpa. And how his parents and relatives, purely the descendants of Zhabdrung were treated by the Poenlops and Dzongpoens then. The book also displays how the Zhabdrung's family had survived despite undergoing the toughest circumstances which were never expected till then. Moreover, going through the lines of how they were chased by the Militants just like targeting a musk deer in the dense jungle, I even felt like what I would have done if I too were there. By some misinterpretation or alteration in the messages between the Real Leaders and the subordinates, assassination happened unexpectedly. The book also depicts where they had been surviving when the whole family in the name of Zhabdrung was being eyed by the whole others. It vividly says their life had been traveling to known or even unknown places, not on a family trip or tour, but in search of peace and of course, for their survival. The book also contains much significance of why Pungthang dewachenpoi phodrang is one of the prominent places of Bhutan. To cut it short, I recommend every Bhutanese to have a read of this book of history. I am sure, nobody will regret it at any cost. I am satisfied reading it. And you will too. Happy Reading...Thank you.
An inclusive of the whole of Bhutan history in a thick book by Dr. Karma Phuntsho reinforced me to read history once again and love the history of Bhutan. Written with so much effort to bring into life, I recommend history teachers, and of course, every Bhutanese to know our forefather's time and hardships through lines of words in here. Happy Reading
A collection of short stories yet worthy to be told to our children on the bed. I recommend teachers read this book or share it with students. They'll have fun for sure. Stories in this book will create their own stories by the readers. Happy Reading
The circle of karma, a true novel that depicts the cause and effect of what we do in real life. The journey of the protagonist through problems, chaos and all kinds of abuses brings tears to the tiny eyes. I must say every Buddhist should have a flip-over of this novel.Happy Reading
Born in Jangbi is a novel of love along with hardships. It displays the power of power over the power of love. And of course, eyes watery novel I have ever read so far. Happy Reading
Define yourself, from the title itself, it talks whole of the inside story. It's such an amazing Novel where culture and advice are intertwined in such a way that either every chapter provides advice or a Bhutanese cultural display. I have read it and I liked it a lot. This novel is yet another one of the best novels I have read so far. This surely deserves a recommendation to read by every Bhutanese. Happy Reading
PaSsu Diary: A Journal of an Ordinary Bhutanese
Passu Diary is surely a diary of an ordinary man who undergoes several incidences of peculiar experience which is of course a lesson to the readers. A teacher, an active teacher though is an inspiring idol to the young blood of Bhutan. I urge every Bhutanese to grab a copy and read it to walk along with the series of the author's incidences. Happy Reading
Chronicle of a love foretold is a book that speaks how far love is true, obstacles and obligations are the other ingredients to make the love even stronger. A love story which every young mind should read once as it resembles our lovely days with our couples when other necessary or unnecessary obligations interfere in-between. I have read it. Now, it's your turn if ever you haven't read it till now. Happy Reading
Dawa: The Story of a Stray Dog in Bhutan
A novel by Bhutanese I read for the first time in my school days. And a story of an abnormal dog who travels from very east to west of Bhutan who experiences humiliation, bullying, rejection and ill-treatment by human. It's a display of how an animal (Dawa, a stray dog) feels as he encounters with different kinds of people, and also of same species. Since the day I read this novel, I committed to be kind to animals. Therefore, I recommend everyone to read this story to get a story of an animal, or learn from an animal.Happy reading.
Enthusiastic Readers,A novel I have never read before alike this novella. A novella which creates a theatre in the bedroom, in the sitting room, or in the classroom where as I read by lines, a chapter after chapter, I feel like I am watching a beautiful romantic movie. It often hypnotizes me to be the main character Gangtey Nyerpai Penjor who is brave enough to walk all the way from Gangtey to Athang just because she could not make up to the appointment dateline at sha Chitokha. A Principal by profession, Nima Dorji has written this novella in such a way that if he continues to write novellas or novels in future, the proprietor of cinemas will be great lose. Or else, movie producers will again request this novella for movie shoot just like his first book Ruebi Nyaka Phushay which is in Dzongkha later turned into a movie in which the author was awarded the Best Script writer. Therefore, I recommend everyone, every Bhutanese that it's a must to grab a copy of this novella and feel the taste of it's inside story, the story full of journey to feel the power of true love that existed centuries ago. About me, I brought few tens of copies, contributed few to the school library and sold it few to colleagues. After I finished reading, I gave it to the class to take turns to read it. Grab a copy and read it. It's a investment, not the wastage for sure.Happy Reading in promotion of Bhutanese Writers...
